Jackson's Story

Twelve years ago, Jackson's mom wasn't looking for a dog.

She was simply going to meet a puppy whose family was preparing to move across the country. At the time, she was in a transitional season of life and knew that adopting a dog probably wasn't the most practical decision.

But then she met Jackson.

One look was all it took.

Over the next twelve years, Jackson became so much more than a pet. He became her constant companion through some of life's most difficult chapters. Together they navigated the loss of her father, job losses, heartbreak, family struggles, and countless other challenges that life can bring.

Through it all, Jackson remained exactly what dogs do best: a steady source of comfort, loyalty, and unconditional love.

Now, at 12 years old, Jackson is entering his senior years and needs additional veterinary care, including an exam and blood work to evaluate concerns about his dental health. At the same time, his mom is facing financial hardship after recently losing her job.

Like so many devoted dog parents, her focus wasn't on herself. It was on making sure Jackson received the care he needed.

When I read Jackson's nomination, I was reminded of why Stella Strong exists.

Our dogs spend their entire lives showing up for us—through the good days, the hard days, and everything in between. Sometimes they need us to show up for them, too.

Because of the generosity of the Stella Strong community, we were honored to award Jackson and his mom a $250 Stella Strong Grant to help with his veterinary expenses.

It's a small way of saying thank you to a dog who has spent twelve years being exactly what every family hopes for: a loyal friend, a source of comfort, and a heart that never stopped loving.
